As a young adult, Telva traveled the world and became enamored with ancient, indigenous art and glyphs. She studied archeology, Latin American history and culture, as well as, Egyptian art. This print was inspired by the Amur tribe.
Telva Chase, designer and artist for most of her life, started Truffle Art with the desire to tell a story of forgotten peoples and cultures. Without the use of cultural appropriation, her detailed artwork is created through a variety of media – watercolor, inks, acrylic, encaustic – a combination of traditional and digital renderings. These board shorts were inspired by the ancient Mayan writings found on the Yucatán Peninsula.
Telva is seeking a unique collaboration opportunity with a focus on menswear apparel that is distinct, has a special feel, no matter how old the audience.
Today she paints to express herself using many different traditional media: oil, acrylic, encaustic, watercolor, gold leaf, pastel, pen and ink, and colored pencil. Her paintings are often a combination of these to bring about the depth and translucence required in the subject.
She's also adept in the digital space to produce stand-alone and repeat patterns and prints for textiles and apparel.
